Street Stitching

Street stitching was started by the Artist Suzi Warren. It is a joyful rebellion that demonstrates the pleasure and necessity of garment repair.

As part of Sustainable Fashion week, members of Everyone Needs Pockets held our own street stitching event on September 30th, forming a line of chairs in the town centre to sit and mend. This was intended as an encouragement rather than a protest and a way of showing what we would like to see more of.

We handed out free Happy Sewing kits and information on how to repair your clothes.

Suzi Warren has curated a collection of free online tutorials that share many ways to mend, embellish, alter, refresh and refashion your wardrobe.

Prolong the life of your clothes and learn the happy art of repair.
