Sustainable Fashion Week: Frome Hub

This September is going to be a busy and exciting one for Everyone Needs Pockets as we are a Frome hub for Sustainable Fashion Week. We have a full programme of events lined up for the the main weekend on Saturday 30th September and Sunday 1st October:

Thursday 14 September
  • STITCH IT DON’T DITCH IT BANNER-MAKING WORKSHOP
    The Welsh Mill Hub

    A workshop to make ‘#StitchItDon’tDitchIt’ banners for the street stitching event happening on 30 Sept

    Frome Westway Shopping Centre

    FREE
    The Everyone Needs Pockets network will be taking to the Westway shopping centre to mend our clothes in public.
  • COMMUNITY CLOTHES SWAP
    The Old School Room at RISE, Whittox Lane
    12pm – 4pm
    £3 entry
    The Frome Wardrobe Collective invite you to discover a more sustainable way to shop for your next wardrobe staple. All genders, ages, and sizes are welcome at our inclusive event.
  • LEARN TO MEND YOUR CLOTHES WORKSHOP
    SHARE Frome, The Bridge
    12pm – 2pm
    FREE, booking required
    Free guidance sessions in small hand sewn clothing repairs for those with little or no sewing experience or confidence.

  • FEELING DRESSED WORKSHOP, MENSWEAR & WOMENSWEAR
    Frome Museum

    FREE, booking required
    Join Dr Lucy Gundry for a round table conversation to look through ‘our eyes only’ at pieces of dress from the archives. We will visually unpick how pieces were made, worn, repaired and re-worn over time…what it felt like to wear these pieces and why loved clothes last! Adults only.

  • MAKE OLD CLOTHES NEW WITH INDIGO
    The Remakery, Welsh Mill Hub
    3pm – 6pm
    FREE, drop-in
    Join Make:Shed’s Cassie and Amala in the Remakery, Welsh Mill Hub, during the afternoon to breathe new life into a loved but tired piece of clothing – refresh your jeans with an Indigo bath or brighten up an old t-shirt with simple resist dyeing techniques. All ages welcome.
SUNDAY 1 OCTOBER
  • SOUTH WEST ENGLAND FIBRESHED AT THE FROME INDEPENDENT
    Outside Frome Library
    10am – 3pm
    Soil-to-soil fashion plus live demos from members of the producer network.
  • FASHION REIMAGINED FILM SCREENING
    Frome Town Hall
    6pm – 9pm
    £0 – £5, booking required
    Film screening of Fashion Reimagined. Following the film, there will be informal chat and discussion.

Sustainable Fashion Week is an annual event helping to raise awareness and make sustainable fashion accessible through community engagement. This year the ‘week’ runs from “25 SEP TO 8 OCT (and a little either side!)”
